Power That Is Moral!

Power Quote for the Week

Welcome to Sunday's semi-regular feature. This week's witty, wise, or profound quotation concerns wisdom as referred to the use of power.

I choose these quotations about power as it refers to electricity, since that is what this blog is about. Sometimes though, I'll select a quotation about power, as it relates to the human condition.

Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist, and prominent leader in the African American civil rights movement. He said, "I am not interested in power for power's sake, but I'm interested in power that is moral, that is right and that is good."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

I could not agree with him more. The seeking of power seems to corrupt by the very nature of wanting to yield ones control over another. So to find power that is in fact truly moral is a rarity in this world. Those born with the natural ability to lead others and are then elevated to a position of power would most likely posses the moral character to do the right and good thing. Beware of those who manipulate, lie and make promises they never intend to keep, for they have no morals.
