Power or Love?

Power Quote for the Week

Welcome to Sunday's regular feature. Every week you can look for a witty, wise, or profound quotation from assorted folks about power.

I choose these quotations about power as it refers to electricity, since that is what this blog is about. Sometimes though, I'll select a quotation about power, as it relates to the human condition.

Carl Gustav Jung (26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, an influential thinker and the founder of analytical psychology (also known as Jungian psychology) said, "Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

What say you? When you analyze your own personality, do you find that you are predominately approaching life and relationships from the side of love or using your power to control others? Balance is key as with all things in life.

Power vs. Greatness!

Stewart Lee Udall (January 31, 1920 – March 20, 2010[1]) was an American politician. He served as Secretary of the Interior from 1961 to 1969, under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He said, "We have, I fear, confused power with greatness."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

Having power does not necessarily mean that one has the wisdom and that quality of greatness that we hope comes with those we have entrusted to provide leadership because of their charisma. Our current leader is an excellent orator, but he lacks wisdom, and his arrogance is an insult to the American people. I do believe the above quote apply fits.

Power, Wisdom....Your Opinion?

Power Quote for the Week

Welcome to Sunday's regular feature. Every week you can look for a witty, wise, or profound quotation from assorted folks about power.

I choose these quotations about power as it refers to electricity, since that is what this blog is about. Sometimes though, I'll select a quotation about power, as it relates to the human condition.

Stephen Vincent Benét (July 22, 1898 – March 13, 1943) was an American author, poet, short story writer, and novelist said, "We thought, because we had power, we had wisdom."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

We all have opinions whether we share them or not. From my point of view, I truly believe that our current leaders in Congress lack wisdom, yet their power of position leads them to believe they have wisdom, more wisdom than the majority of people they are supposed to represent. They falsely believe they can make better decisions on our behalf. Do you really think they are right? If not, let your voice be heard!

Power and Crime!

Freda Adler, currently a Distinguished Professor in Criminal Justice at Rutgers University said, "Stripped of ethical rationalizations and philosophical pretensions, a crime is anything that a group in power chooses to prohibit."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

Take the 2nd Amendment as an example. There are those in Washington who are doing there best to prohibit the use of all fire arms. They want to use their power to prohibit our ability to protect ourselves; thus they are contributing to a crime against the citizens of this United States by hiding new legislation in current bills to be passed by congress. Deception at the highest level is a crime of evil.

Power's Aftermath!

Thomas Jefferson,(April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826) was the third President of the United States (1801–1809), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776). He said, "I know of no safe repository of the ultimate power of society but people. And if we think them not enlightened enough, the remedy is not to take the power from them, but to inform them by education."

Bringing Meaning To Madness

Our educational system will make us a stronger nation or doom us to peril to repeat the mistakes of other nations. Standards should always be kept high not lowered. When society places their trust in their government to manage education, medical health and welfare, that is the beginning of the downward spiral of a nation into mediocrity, followed by anarchy and a revolution. Our current leaders are pushing us straight toward mediocrity at this very time in history. Are you concerned enough to speak up?

How could I or anyone else add anything to that?

Bringing Meaning To Madness

When we as individuals decide to take action on any issue, power replaces fear, and we are well able to accomplish the unbelievable. Choose to stand up for what you truly believe in and watch the transformation of power enter your life.
"If it weren't for electricity, we'd all be watching television by candlelight." ~ George Gobel
